What is the purpose of Fanimal?

Fanimal was created to foster a forum where people who love animals can learn more about them and help improve their lives.

What kinds of animals does Fanimal focus on?

You’ll find a lot of articles and images on Fanimal that relate to mammals, but we want to increase understanding about other types of animals, too – fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and even invertebrates.

Why should I follow Fanimal?

Well, first of all, it’s fun. If you are a fan of animals, you enjoy thinking about them, seeing videos of them, meeting other people who are also fans…Fanimal is a space where you can come to feel happy.  Get that animal rush.  A furry, finny, feathery fix, if you will.

Fanimal is a community comprised of people who range differently in knowledge and experience with animals. It is a welcoming environment to experts and novices alike. Each of us have more than a passing interest in animals. We can learn from each other and be around people who share our inquisitive nature and desire to help animals.

It feels good to be a part of a collective effort contributing to a larger movement.  If you choose to engage in advocacy, citizen science, personal challenges, or any of our many other activities to support animal issues, you will be rewarded by the knowledge that you’ve helped an animal!  Even actively raising your own awareness and understanding about animals can benefit them indirectly.

The volume of information and messages on the internet is overwhelming.  Fanimal cuts through all that to offer the most pertinent and timely information.

You will have access to dozens of animal experts and animal organizations that you otherwise would not.

You will be the first to know about current issues related to animals

Your membership includes access to courses to help fulfill your personal or professional goals regarding your love and respect for animals.

And Fanimal continually offers perks to its members.

There are a million websites and blogs about animals that I can read.  Why should Fanimal be my go-to resource?

Well, you’ve just answered your own question.  Fanimal stays current on important issues related to animals and provides high quality curated information in an easy to digest format.  We summarize the information you need to be more informed about animals.

Do I have to participate in Fanimal challenges and contests?

Absolutely not.  You can be as active as you wish in the community.  We provide a number of ways to enjoy the content without having to engage in events and other Fanimal related offerings, but we hope you will try out a challenge or two along the way.

How does Fanimal spend its funds?

Donations helps sustain Fanimal operations by employing our awesome Fanimal staff, paying our expert contributors (who can opt to donate their stipend to their favorite animal cause, rather than being paid), and covering the cost of website maintenance and software.

Who does Fanimal partner with?

Fanimal strives to partner with reputable, productive, and ethical animal-focused organizations.  We feature some of these with our animal organization of the month, however, our partners also provide relevant content and member perks, training for people who want to be engaged with animals as a career, and offer a host of ways to do more for animals as time, money and energy allow.

How does Fanimal select its organizational partners?

Fanimal only works with reputable and effective organizations.  Many of our partner organizations are listed on Animal Charity Evaluators top 300 list.  We have connected with some of our partners at national and international conferences and events focusing on animals.  And lastly, our partners are organizations recommended by our Board of Advisors.

What’s the downside to following Fanimal?  Why should I not join?

You definitely should not follow us if you aren’t into animals.  Beyond that, maybe you could overdose on too much cuteness and knowledge?
